CHINESE AT THE COFFEE SHOP

اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَا تُهُ

I think this is my very first post with Moslem greeting in Arabic letters. The meaning of the 'salam' is may the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be with you. Yesterday my friend, Tiwi, told me a beautiful story about groups of Chinese Muslims in a coffee shop. Tiwi was alone there waiting for her coffee, Tiwi also wearing hijab like me she sat near a table filled with group of Chinese people. When she was busy looking at her cellphone, she heard someone saying Islamic greeting, she thought that was for her because usually people teasing someone who wear hijab by saying "salam', usually it happen when a women with hijab passing prankster on the street. She was wrong, the 'salam' mentioned by a Chinese man who just came to his friend sitting on the table near to Tiwi, and they are also speaking in Arabic language talking about their business.

For me that was a beautiful story of the day and really made my day. Here in my country, Indonesia, Chinese muslims is a minority, but they are growing bigger and bigger. Some of them was born from a family who believes in Islam but as far as I know usually they are converted to Moslem when they were grown, when they are mature enough to decide the meaning of life including choosing what to believe as their way of life. I feel shame at the same time hearing the story from Tiwi, suddenly I feel so strange with myself and getting amazed by those group of Chinese people. I was born as Moslem and I'm growing believing Islam as my religion, but I rarely greeting people I met, even my Moslem best friend by saying 'salam'. Meanwhile, the meaning of Islamic Greeting is so beautiful, we pray for the good of others.

Since that day, I promise to myself I will try to greet Moslem people that I know when I meet them, on the telephone, in an email, etc. Ah, not to mention those Chinese people able to speak in Arabic language. Shame on me, I just know some of words in Arabic, because I learned Al-Quran translation when I was a cute little Yulia Rahmawati, but that was not for conversation and communication in Arabic language. May the peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon those lovely Chinese people and also Tiwi for telling me about them. Now, learning Arabic language just added to my to do list in life, insyaAllah. So, to all my Moslem friend, let's be a good Moslem agent and spread the beauty of Islam in this world.

Here, I also want to thank all blogger fellas for commenting on my last blog post, thanks for leaving inspiring comments about blogging world there. You guys are best!

At this blog post I also would like to share inspiration of how to wear white shirt for hijabi, and maybe you will also like to check my another post of how to wear white shirt for hijabi here. This time I'm wearing a white shirt with pocket accent from SAY Hijab, combined with fuschia tribal scarf and tosca pants, also from SAY Hijab. Then I complete the look with a stripes wedges from The Little Things She Needs.

White shirt is like a blank canvas, you can paint it casually like I did here or you can paint it with touch of color like I did at the pictures. Add a simple necklace with a long chain to fill the emptiness of your white shirt and now your are ready to rock your white shirt.
